We will explore the falls from below and above! We will plan a day to enjoy the award winning Rochester Lilac Festival featuring over 1,200 beautiful lilacs. This tour also includes a 3-night stay at the Crown Plaza in Niagara Falls!

Travel east to mid-Ohio aboard our comfortable Sunrise Tours motor coach. Gather around the dinner
table as we enjoy an authentic German dinner complete with Bavarian entertainment before we retire in our
hotel for the night. Dinner included
Day 2: Niagara Falls and Maid of the Mist
After a journey northeast along the southern shores of Lake Erie we will arrive in Niagara Falls, NY. We
will board the Maid of the Mist boat for an up close view of the falls from the base. The memories will last a lifetime! Then we will travel into Canada for dinner at the prominent Skylon Tower revolving dining room. The

and yellow. A few years ago, Martha Stewart planted a lilac during the festival! While in Rochester, we will also
visit the George Eastman House, home of the founder of Kodak. Stroll the gorgeous gardens, enjoy the

Gardening and Sustainable Living Go Hand in Hand
St. Louis County Suburban homeowners Dan and Mary Deweese are celebrating Earth Day 2010
by embarking on a two-year quest to create a more sustainable suburban lifestyle, setting goals
of cutting home energy usage by 50 percent, growing 500 pounds of fruits and vegetables in their
backyard garden, minimizing waste production, and transitioning to organic home and garden
chemicals. They are documenting their journey online at www.Sprawlstainable.com to chronicle
the challenges and possibilities of living a more green, suburban lifestyle. Mary is currently President
of Forsythia Garden Club.
"We wanted to make a difference where we are," said Mary Deweese, a registered Landscape Architect
and owner of Acorn Landscapes. "When people talk about sustainability, a lot of the emphasis is on
urban areas because of population density. But many families live in areas of suburban sprawl like we
do. We wanted to show how individual families can transition areas of suburban sprawl to more
sustainable living, which is where we got the name "Sprawlstainable" for the web site. It's really a
message to encourage people to bloom where you're planted, and Earth Day seemed like the perfect
time to start our adventure."
Growing our own fruits and vegetables is one of the major focuses of our efforts. Urban and Suburban agriculture is very important to the long term viability of our towns and cities. Food that is grown locally
does not require the large amounts of energy for transportation, and most home gardeners practice
low impact and organic methods. “Our goal is to grow 10% of the food we consume for our family
right in our own backyard, using organic and sustainable growing methods,” said Mary.
The couple will be posting detailed reports of the garden every week, including the amounts and types
of food harvested, the value of that food if it was bought at the grocery store, and tips for preserving
and enjoying the harvest. Visit www.Sprawlstainable.com to read more…or become a fan of
Sprawlstainable on facebook for updates on new posts and information on the website.
